Walk With Me @ the Detroit Zoo August 2

Auburn Hills, MI -- Easter Seals Michigan (ESM) is planning its major fundraiser, the 7th Annual “Walk with Me” event, a one-mile family fun walk at the Detroit Zoo on Sunday, August 2, 2015. 2015 Ambassadors Melvin Eckles of Pontiac and child ambassador Punky Lickman of South Lyon have compelling stories of overcoming disability and depression and are available for interviews. “This year’s walk is special because we are also raising awareness for our new program to help the 1 in 4 children who have trauma.” said CEO Brent Wirth. “LUNA (Look, Uncover, Nurture, Act) is now available in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. It’s easily accessed at www.lunamodel.org and is helping children and their families who have trauma from exposure to violence, abuse, neglect or other sources,” he said.

More than 1,000 walkers of all ages and fitness levels are anticipated to join Melvin and Punky as they champion health and wellness for children and adults with developmental disabilities, behavioral and mental health challenges. Fox 2 Anchor and Reporter, Ron Savage, returns as the event’s master of ceremonies.
