Weekend Planner: Holy Week Activities Set for Families

This weekend you'll find a mix of celebrations and services to commemorate Easter in Berkley.

Here are some suggestions of ways to celebrate and honor Holy Week alongside the community this weekend:

  • Join the for a before Easter Sunday. At 5 p.m. Friday, the annual event will offer a fish dinner, side of mac & cheese or French fries, roll with butter and coleslaw for dine in or carry out. The cost is $5. There will also be dessert and drinks available. Clothing donations will be accepted for the Ladies Auxiliary drive.
  • On Saturday, will host a free community open to everyone. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. and kids can also take photos with the Easter bunny, in addition to getting face painting and exploring for candy-filled eggs. Hot chocolate and refreshments will be served.
  • Greenfield Presbyterian Church also has a series of annual Holy Week services going on this weekend. The events are part of the church's  and include special Good Friday and Easter events.
  •  will host The Sacred Triduum to commemorate Holy Week. For Holy Thursday on April 5, a 7 p.m. evening mass of the Lord’s Supper will be held. Also, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Father Landry Center will run until midnight. Good Friday services are at 1:30 p.m. for the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and at 7 p.m. for Stations of the Cross. Holy Saturday will be celebrated with a 10 a.m. Blessing of Easter Food and an 8 p.m. vigil, while Easter Sunday at La Salette will feature two Easter Mass services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
