6 Seaholm Students to Sign National Letters of Intent

Students will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Six athletes at Birmingham’s Seaholm High School, one of the state’s premier high schools featuring a highly competitive academic environment, will sign national letters of intent Tuesday to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The school also offers a comprehensive athletic program for more than 800 athletes in 31 varsity sports.

The students will sign their letters in a public event at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Seaholm gym.

The students are:

Mykala Arnold – Swimming/Georgia Southern University. Her accomplishments include:

  • Academic All-America
  • Junior National Qualifier

She was recruited by Coach Nate Kellogg.

“I am very excited to be able to do what I love at the collegiate level,” she said. “I’m very thankful for my coaches and teammates who supported me through everything.”

Audrey Belf – Cross Country & Track/Georgetown: Belf’s athletic accomplishments include:

  • Michigan D1 Cross Country Individual Champion 2013 & 2014
  • Michigan D1 Cross Country Individual Champion 2013 & 2014
  • Member of Michigan D1 Cross Country State Championship team 2012 & 2014
  • 2013 Michigan 3200m Individual Champion.
  • All State in track 2013 & 2014
  • Member of 2013 - 4 X 800m Michigan State Championship relay team
  • 2014 USATF Junior National 5000 Meter Champion
  • Michigan Indoor Track Series 3200M State Champion 2013 & 2014

She was recruited by Coach Michael Smith.

“I am very excited to be attending Georgetown University next year,” she said. “The team, coach and school were the perfect fit. I also wanted to thank my parents and Jeff (Devantier) for all their support in making this happen.”

Jamie Greene – Golf/Seton Hall University: Greene’s athletic accomplishments include:

  • 2014 MHSAA Division 2, State Champion-Medalist
  • 2014 & 2013 - Back-to Back MHSAA Division 2 State Champions (team)
  • 2014 MIGCA Girls’ All State Super Team
  • 2014 MIGCA Academic All State
  • 2014 Varsity Captain
  • 2014 MVP Award and Leadership Award

She was recruited by Coach Sara Doell.

“I am really looking forward to taking my golf game to the collegiate level, and I’m so excited to get to know the girls on the team,” she said.

Enrique Hernandez – Swimming/Xavier University: Hernandez’s athletic accomplishments include:

  • 2014 MHSAA Division 2 State Champion
  • 400 Free Relay Division 2 State Record
  • 200 and 400 Free Relay Seaholm School Record
  • 6th Place on 2014 Junior Nationals SC 400 Medley Relay

Brent MacDonald was the recruiting coach.

“We are very proud of Enrique’s accomplishments on the pool and on the school,” the student athlete’s parents said.

Celia Hoag – Swimming/Grand Valley: Her athletic accomplishments include:

  • 4 time qualifier for MHSAA, Division 2 State Championship Meet
  • 2013 Placed 4th in the 100m Breaststroke 1:04.72(Y) and 12th 200IM 2:12.43(Y)
  • 2012 Placed 6th in the 100m Breaststroke.
  • 2011 Placed 12th in the 100m Breaststroke.
  • Oakland Activities Association Scholar Athlete -2012, 201
  • Academic All American. 2011, 2012, 2013
  • 3 year varsity waterpolo, (year four to come) - elected 2015 captain
  • Waterpolo: voted Rookie of the year

Andrew Boyce was the recruiting coach.

“I’d never be where I am without the support of my family, my team and Coach Karl Hodgson.” Hoag said. “They are the ones that made this dream possible.”

Jack Russell – Swimming/Notre Dame: His athletic accomplishments Include

Two-year captain of the Seaholm swim team

All-American in the 100 Breast and medley relay

Member of the State Championship medley relay team and individual State Champion in the 200IM

School record holder in the 100 Breast and 200 medley relay

Matt Tallman was the recruiting coach.

“I have loved being a member of the Seaholm Maple’s swim team, and was proud to be a part of a State Championship team last year,” Russell said. “I am looking forward to my senior year at then continuing my swimming career at Notre Dame next year.”
