County Executives Join Together to Make Dreams Come True for Michigan Children with Life Threatening Illnesses

County Executives Warren Evans, Mark Hackel and L. Brooks Patterson are coming together to help make dreams come true for Michigan children.

As the excitement over presidential candidates continues to rise and opposing views are heard throughout the community County Executives Warren Evans, Mark Hackel and L. Brooks Patterson are coming together to help make dreams come true for Michigan children with life threatening illnesses.

"The Rainbow Connection started as a dream in memory of good friends of mine killed in a plane crash in 1980. Fast forward 36 years and 3000 wishes later and we are still making dreams come true. Each wish is unique and creates memories for these families. I am very proud of that” explains Rainbow Connection founder Patterson.

Evans, Hackel and Patterson, along with honorary co-chairs Jeffrey Taub M.D. and Rod Alberts will be joined by Wish Ambassador 5-year-old Aidyn for the second annual Dream Makers Ball on April 30 at the Townsend Hotel. The event is an enchanting black tie gala benefiting the charity’s mission. Aidyn will be in his tux that night and is looking forward to getting his picture taken with the three county executives. Aidyn, diagnosed with Leukemia last year, continues his battle and is excited for his dream come true family adventure to Disney World next Spring during a break from his medical treatment.

“It is an honor to serve as honorary committee member for The Rainbow Connection,” said Wayne County Executive Evans. “We often take for granted that children have forever to accomplish their dreams. Children who are battling life-threatening illnesses, if it were not for The Rainbow Connection, might never have been able to experience their dreams. I am proud to stand with my colleagues from Oakland and Macomb Counties to support such a worthy cause.”

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel agrees, adding “The Rainbow Connection is truly a community partner, making dreams come true for hundreds of Macomb County children. I have seen this firsthand over the years and I am always happy to support this fine charity serving our community and all of Michigan”.
