Four Historic Churches, Four Synagogues

One of SE Michigan’s little known treasures are the legacies being preserved by present-day churches whose houses of worship were originally synagogues.  The Jewish Historical Society of Michigan will conduct a tour visiting four churches that were once synagogues to look at the beautiful iconography and architecture of these buildings built in the years preceding WWII.  The tour will travel to Adat Shalom, now Bailey Cathedral COGIC; Shaarey Zedek (W. Chicago), now Clinton Street Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, B’nai David (Elmhurst), now New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, B’nai Moshe (Dexter), now St Paul A.M.E. Zion Church. RSVP 248-432-5517 or info@michjewishhistory.org.
