The GPAC production, under the direction of Mr. John W. Rutherford, promises to be fun for the whole family. This version retains all of the fun loving characters, the antics and the fifties inspired music with some creative edits to language and content, making it a fun performance for even the elementary school aged student.

This GPAC production is rooted in an idea of fantasy and bringing the classic animated film to life for the audiences. Colorful costumes, rousing choreography and fantastic lighting are all combined to bring the world under the sea to life for audiences.

As the curtain opens, the audience meets the little mermaid, Ariel, as she sings about the world that she longs to be a part of, while in the distance Prince Eric laments about how he really belongs on the sea where he can be free to express himself. As the story continues audiences meet many characters who are on their own personal journey to fit in and find their own happiness as they try desperately to find the part of the world where they belong.

Audiences are sure to enjoy this classic story set under the sea as well as above the ocean. The Little Mermaid features a cast of beloved characters: Ariel, the independent thinking mermaid, Prince Eric, the seafaring adventurer, Sebastian, the prickly and controlling crab and ; and Ursula, the menacing and conniving sea-witch looking to destroy Ariel and King Triton. All of the characters are desperate to find their place in the world, get what they want, so much so that they’ll serenade you with your favorite hits: “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl,” and “Poor Unfortunate Fools.”
