Much ‘A-Doo’ About Nothing, Says Man Who Admits to Flinging Dog Poop, but Not to Taking Aim

A Birmingham man accused of flinging a fistful of dog feces at his neighbor says he wasn’t intentionally dumping on her, but when she failed to clean up after her dog, he scooped it up the poop and only meant to throw it in the street.

Now he’s found himself in a steaming hot mess.

The woman took umbrage and filed a complaint with police, The Observer & Eccentric reports.

Eric Wolfe, 54, says the woman was talking on her cell phone as she walked her dog and allowed the dog to do its business on his lawn. He and family members were in the car in the driveway, preparing for an an evening out. Wolfe said he called to her and asked her to clean it up.

She refused, and that’s when the situation got messy.

“If it did hit her, it was certainly inadvertent,” he told the newspaper.

Birmingham police detectives are investigating and will forward their report to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if misdemeanor assault and battery charges should be filed against Wolfe, who says he’s “stunned” and “embarrassed” by the notoriety he’s gained.

Police Chief Don Studt declined comment on the case when contacted by the newspaper.

Wolfe insists that he’s the real victim and some of his dog-owning neighbors have been targeting his lawn on a Frank Street corner lot for the past several years in retaliation for his opposition to a dog park at nearby Barnum Park.

“Most of my neighbors are great people,” he said. “But I do believe there are certain people in the neighborhood who are still angry with me because I was handing out fliers against the dog park.”

He’s ready for the whole mess – the notoriety and he dog poop that caused it – to go away.

“I’m sick and tired of cleaning up dog waste on my front lawn,” he said. “I have a 3-year-old daughter that plays on the lawn.

“I take care of my property. My lawn is not a toilet for canines.”
