Nervous Bride Could’ve Lived Happily Ever After without Wedding Surprise

Call it a bride’s premonition or just a lucky break, but alerting Sterling Heights police to keep an eye on her family’s home while she was tying the knot took some of the sting out of a wedding day surprise for the new couple and their family Saturday.

She was worried the house would be vulnerable while everyone was out celebrating her nuptials, so they asked police to keep an eye on the property. Police staked out the house in the 42000 block of Locklin and, sure enough, they caught three men leaving after having ransacked the house, WXYZ, Channel 7, reports.

The men – 23-year-old Taymar Jarbo, 20-year-old Thomas Khidir and 21-year-old Aveal Gigka – have been charged with second-degree home invasion and possession of buglary tools. If convicted, they could face up to 15  years in prison.

The mother of the bride, who asked not to be identified, said the trio marred an otherwise happy day.

“The best day of my life, they ruined it,” she said. “I see my house destroyed. They make me very sad.”

The woman, who has lived in the neighborhood for 17 years without incident, said it was reassuring that police were nearby and able to arrest the suspects so quickly.  

“Thank God the police caught them,” she said.
