Phony $50 Bills Turning Up in Birmingham
Police say the same suspect was involved in two of the reported passings of counterfeit money.

BIRMINGHAM, MI - Phony $50 bills have turned up at downtown Birmingham businesses during the busy holiday shopping period, police said.
The counterfeit bills were passed over the past week, The Birmingham Eccentric/Hometownlife.com reports, first at Artloft, 123 Maple, and then at Teacups & Toys, 271 E. Merrill, and then later at Salon Legato, 335 E. Maple.
The first bill was passed sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec.7. The second two both occurred the afternoon of Dec. 3, according to the report.

The suspect in those cases is described as a middle-aged black man with a medium build, short hair and possibly some facial hair. He was wearing a gray ski jacket and white knit hat, and and was carrying numerous shopping bags, police said.
