This is great. The entire month of July Craft Beer Month in Michigan — as if you needed a special reason to celebrate the hoppy elixir of the locavore movement.
Michigan, with more than 200 small brewers and brewpubs, is now the fifth-largest beer producer in the country, according to the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association. Even more breweries are on tap.
Spencer Nevins, the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association president, says the state’s beer distributors play a pivotal role in helping local craft brewers grow their brand and provide incomparable access to retailers, big and small, across the state.

Michigan beer distributors will continue to play that crucial role in this month-long celebration of Michigan craft beer as brewers showcase their brands at tap takeovers, special events and festivals, the group said.

Another way to look at this is a month-long quest to find Michigan’s best craft beer — responsibly, of course, with designated drivers, public transportation, taxis and ride-shares.
