Bloomfield Township Home Invasion Suspects Head to Prison

Investigators with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are still trying to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for the rash of home invasions reported during a three-hour afternoon span on Jan. 9. However, two repeat offenders responsible for similar crimes earlier this year are headed to prison.

Andrew Willey, 27, and Christopher Drinkhorn, 21, were both sentenced to serve between two and 20 years with in the Michigan Department of Corrections earlier this month, court records show. Both men pleaded guilty as charged to counts of home invasion - second degree, and being habitual offenders during pre-trial hearings in early October.

The sentences are concurrent with sentencings other related cases stemming from crimes in Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills. Neither Hillarie Boettger, Drinkhorn's attorney, nor Stacy Drouillard, Willey's attorney, returned messages from Patch.

Officers arrested both men on Sept. 13 shortly after a burglary in the 1400 block of Lenox Street, according to Bloomfield Township Police Department reports. Officers responded to a call about two men seen running down the sidewalk of Lenox and into a green SUV parked near the Adams Road intersection at about midnight. At about the same time, they received an alert about a home security system activated on Lenox.

An Auburn Hills police officer arrested them nearby and they were charged withe the Lenox Street home invasion, as well as an additional count of home invasion-second degree for a crime that occurred on Sept. 5 in Rochester Hills, Oakland County Circuit Court records show. Drinkhorn, of Rochester Hills, was also convicted of one count of home invasion-second degree for an incident in Auburn Hills on Sept. 4.

The prison sentences issued by Circuit Judge Rae Lee Chabot were also enhanced because both men are habitual offenders.

Prison records show Willey, of Auburn Hills, was convicted of cocaine possession and operating a vehicle without a license in Macomb County in 2011. He was sentenced to serve two years in prison and records indicate he was released early, but do not specify a date. He was designated a parole absconder on Sept. 18.

Drinkhorn pleaded guilty to a violating his probation received from a fraud conviction last October. He was ordered to serve 273 in days in the Oakland County Jail, records show.
