Business Briefs: Changes Ahead for Andiamo and other Bloomfield Eateries

The Bloomfield Township Andiamo will be among three of the Metro Detroit restaurant chain's locations that will be converted to a Joe Vicari's Andiamo Italian Steakhouse in early August, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The new menu will feature high-quality steaks and chops, more fresh seafood and updated sides and salads to pair with the traditional pasta dishes "that made us who we are today," Vicari told the paper.

Inspired by a recent trip to Italy, Vicari explained that he wanted to build off their top seller, filet, and provide customers their Italian favorites while giving them an option for selections of steak, oysters and fresh seafood.

Though he's partial to their veal, Bloomfield Township Supervisor Leo Savoie said a revamped Andiamo will have a lot to offer.

"It think it'll be a home run there," he said Wednesday afternoon.

Outdoor Eats

Savoie and other members of the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees also spoke highly of the new venture that restauranteur Bill Roberts has planned for the corner of Maple and Lahser roads. But what will the new have to offer that his Roadside B&G, and Birmingham establishments don't already?

"We do American restaurants and our plan is to do American, but a little different than our other spots," Roberts told the board Monday. "We’re going to  be working very hard to deliver a first-rate product to the township."

Part of the draw will be an outdoor seating area that can accommodate more than 50 patrons, and a closing time of 11 p.m. on weeknights, and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Township board members unanimously approved a zoning variance for the later hours Monday, but a formal liquor license application with the township is pending.

Moving Out

The Bloomfield Township is moving to a new location.

The pizzeria will close o Monday, July 16 and relocate to the new location at 1615 S. Opdyke Rd. It will reopen on Wednesday July 18 in the former House of India spot.

“The reason for the move is to update our facility to a new and improved location to better serve our customers," said Robert Leger, the local store owner. "We hope customers will get a fantastic product and exceptional service with our new and improved design.”

The move will not affect the , and the delivery boundaries will not change, officials said.

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19 with members of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.
