Cranbrook Art Museum Opens New Exhibitions on November 22

On November 22, Cranbrook Art Museum will host ArtMembers’ Opening Reception for the ambitious new exhibitions The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders: Artworks, Objects, and Natural Curiosities; Theater of the Mind, and Iris Eichenberg: Bend.

The Cranbrook Hall of Wonders: Artworks, Objects, and Natural Curiosities draws its inspiration from a sixteenth-century “Cabinet of Curiosities” or “Wunderkammer,” and will showcase art, natural oddities and anthropological discoveries side-by-side – pulling items from the collections of both the Art Museum and Cranbrook Institute of Science. Theater of the Mind focuses on the imagination of the audience, with light and sound installations accompanying artworks from a broad range of artists, including Hans Rosenström, Bruce Nauman, Roni Horn and many more. And Iris Eichenberg: Bend is Cranbrook Art Museum’s first solo exhibition featuring Cranbrook Academy of Art Metalsmithing Artist-in-Residence, Iris Eichenberg, and is an unconventional look at the 25-year career of the contemporary jewelry artist.

The schedule for opening weekend includes:

6:30-7:30pm: Exhibition Previews with the curators and artists
