Drive for Life Invitational - Golf & Card Tournament

On Monday, June 4, The Drive for Life Invitational will take place to support oncology patient programs and services at the Walter & Marilyn Wolpin Comprehensive Breast Care Center at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak and the Wilson Cancer Resource Center at Beaumont, Troy. This two-venue event offers an enjoyable day for golfers at Oakland Hills Country Club and a competitive bridge and canasta tournament for card players at Bloomfield Hills Country Club. Both are located in Bloomfield Hills.

Beginning at 8:30 am, golfers will enjoy playing on one of the two elegant and prestigious golf courses of Oakland Hills Country Club. Networking lunch, dinner, golf tips from pro Rick Smith and elite instructor Bret Hartman, and awards are all part of the festivities. The Drive for Life card tournament at Bloomfield Hills Country Club offers participants bridge or canasta play while networking and enjoying a delicious lunch from 11am – 3:30pm. A bridge lesson will be presented by instructor Lynn Root. Prizes are awarded to the winning teams. Events conclude with cocktails and a strolling dinner at Oakland Hills Country Club.

Chris Emde of Bloomfield Hills, Stephen Howard of Franklin and Ryan Marsh of Bloomfield Hills are the 2018 co-chairs of the golf outing while Bobbi Polk of Bloomfield Hills and Julie Beals of Bloomfield Hills are the co-chairs of the card tournament.

“The Drive for Life Invitational women's bridge and canasta card play raises money to support oncology programs at Beaumont including treatment of breast cancer,” said Bobbi Polk. “Among the advanced care services this event will support is a digital breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D, mammography system. As a woman, I am delighted to help make this technology available. It offers enhanced comfort and provides clearer and more accurate results.”

“Philanthropy provides a broad range of services for oncology patients,” said Steve Howard. “When dealing with a difficult diagnosis of cancer, we want to make sure an individual gets the help they need to manage their care from diagnosis to treatment and follow–up. Drive for Life provides a means of securing funds, while offering a fun and fruitful day spent with friends, colleagues and/or business associates.”

The Drive for Life Invitational will also honor the Rose family, exceptional leaders in support of the oncology program at Beaumont, Royal Oak. Members of the Rose family that will be attending the event include: Sheldon Rose, Leslie Rose, Carol Ann & Warren Rose, Elizabeth Rose, Cindy Anderson and Janice Ross.
