Familiar Scenes and Suburban Faces Fill New Chrysler Commercial
Ad shows where we roll on Woodward and in Oakland communities.
Some "hey look" moments during the American League Championship Series take place off the field between innings. Dozens of Metro Detroit sights are in a repeatedly shown Chrysler 300 ad embedded below the photos at right.
Scenes shot during August in Birmingham, West Bloomfield and Detroit are stitched into a street-level zip through this region at its real-life finest. The minute of quick cuts include a driveway lemonade stand, suburban homes and stores, an Oakland County lake, fire fighters and Birmingham's water tower. Faces belong to residents, including fourth-grader Andrew DelPlace of Grosse Pointe Park, whose mother Thuong says "he was just riding his bike down the street when he was filmed. He's very excited to be on TV and is a celebrity at school."
"The new commercial . . . captures a day in the life of local citizens in and around Detroit," Chrysler brand president and CEO Saad Chehab told a writer for AutoTrader.com.

The catchy soundtrack is Heart of the City by Jay-Z from The Blueprint, a 2001 album.
The spot is part of an "Imported from Detroit" series by the Wieden + Kennedy agency of Portland, OR. It won an Emmy Award last month for Eminem's memorable Chrysler ad, first shown during the 2011 Super Bowl.
