Former Lahser Student a Finalist in McDonald's Singing Competition

Israel Moore, who now lives in Okemos, is one of just three vocalists recognized in the national competition.

Former Lahser High School student Israel Moore was recently named one of the top three singers to work at a McDonald's in the United States. Aside from the notable designation — considering that the fast-food giant employs nearly 2 million people — Moore qualifies to participate in the 2012 McDonald’s Worldwide Owner/Operators Convention in Orlando, FL, this spring.

The global singing contest, dubbed the Voice of McDonald's, will bring 16 vocalists from McDonald's restaurants around the world to compete in Orlando for a $25,000 prize in April. The contest is in its fourth year.

Roughly 675,000 McDonald's customers voted online throughout the month of November to select the talent field. Moore grew up in Bloomfield Hills but moved in 2010 to the Okemos area to be closer to family for her senior year. She graduated from Okemos High School and is now a sophomore at Hope College in Holland.

"I am incredibly honored to be chosen as a top three finalists in the Voice of McDonald’s,” said Moore in a written statement. "McDonald’s has opened a world of opportunities for me, and I am very thankful to this competition for making my dreams come true."

As U.S. finalists, each contestant received a personal coaching session with award-winning producers Ira and Rodney Jerkins. With their help, the contestants recorded an approved Artists & Brands selection that was posted on voiceofmcdonalds.com for public viewing and voting.
