Franklin Cider Mill Back Open After Power Line Sparks Fire
The historic fall-time attraction closed Sunday while DTE fixed the problem and is back in business.
A downed power line sparked a small brush fire and cut power at the Franklin Cider Mill Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Bloomfield Township firefighters received a call about the downed line at about 2 p.m. and there smoke showing from leaves and other brush on the ground, Assistant Chief Lyal Bigger said.
They quickly extinguished the fire and notified DTE crews for emergency repairs. No one was injured and there was no significant damage to property. The mill, however, was without power for the afternoon and closed. It was unclear when power was restored.
