Homeowner Walks In As Suspects Are Stealing Car, Bike: Police

The victim's motorcycle and other items had already been removed when homeowner discovered suspects early Sunday.

A Commerce Township homeowner walked in on two suspects in his garage about 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning — one of them in the man’s vehicle and the other allegedly attempting to steal his bicycle, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Both suspects, one from Livonia and the other from Commerce Township,  are in custody pending formal criminal charges, police. Both suspects are 17, according to the release.

According to the news release, the homeowner, 20, walked in the garage of his residence on the 8000 block of Hummingbird drive and discovered the two men. They ran, but he chased them until he lost them in the dark.

When he returned, he discovered his motorcycle and several other items had been stolen, police said.

Deputies responded to the scene with a K-9 unit. The dog was able to track the suspects to the 8000 block of Wise Road, where the stolen motorcycle and several other items the homeowner had reported missing were found.

Oakland County deputies arrested on the suspects in February on a charge of larceny from a vehicle, according to the release.
