Man Stole Liquor, Styling Tools to Sell for Bus Ticket: Police
Bloomfield Township police said they found the suspect hiding under a tree with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – A Ferndale man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stole about $1,000 worth of merchandise he planned to sell to get money for bus fare to Arizona, Bloomfield Township police said.
Sean Baten, 45, allegedly wheeled a cart full of alcohol and electronic hair styling tools from the Rite Aid store at 42931 Woodward Ave. about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Police found him hiding under a tree near the store with the merchandise, and he was arrested without incident, according to a news release.

Baten was arraigned in 48th District Court on first-degree retail fraud. Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein set bond at $100,000 and ordered him held at the Oakland County Jail.

The home is equipped with an alarm, but it wasn’t turned on, according to the report.
