Man Turns Himself in For August Road Rage Incident

Victim claims he cut her off, then brandished a weapon; he says his only weapon was the one-finger salute.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – On November 7, 48-year-old, Philip Abraira turned himself into the Bloomfield Township Police on Assault charges stemming from a road rage incident on August 19.

Judge Kimberly Small arraigned him at the 48th District Court. Bond was set at $10,000,
10% cash/surety, according to a Bloomfield Township police report.

On August 19, officers spoke the victim who said she was driving south on Telegraph road when she was cut off by a Trailblazer driven by Abraira. The victim honked her horn at Abraira and then pulled up alongside of him. The victim said Abraira raised a handgun and mouthed the words “I’ll shoot you.” Abraira then sped off and the victim lost sight of him.

Investigators later spoke with Abraira who admitted to cutting off another car that day. He said he has a valid CPL and owns two handguns. He denied having either with him that day and/or brandishing any weapon. He said he only showed the woman his middle finger while he was talking on his cell phone.

Investigators presented this information to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office who authorized an arrest warrant.
