Maserati Driver Charged With Murder in Fatal Crash

Police say high speed and alcohol were factors in the fatal crash that killed Rhonda Williams, 53, of Oakland Township.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A Bloomfield Hills man was officially charged with second-degree murder Friday after allegedly crashing his 2014 Maserati into another car, killing the diver, Rhonda Williams, 53, of Oakland Township. Gregory Allen Belkin, 43, also faces a secondary charge of operating under the influence of alcohol – causing death, according to a Bloomfield Township Police Department news release.

Belkin was arraigned Friday and entered a not-guilty plea before 48th District Court Judge Diane D’Agostini, who denied bond. His next court appearance, which is Feb. 9.

Police said Belkin was driving fast on Square Lake Road about 9 pm. On Jan. 24 when he allegedly struck Williams’ 2009 Subaru Legacy. Both drivers were eastbound when the crash occurred, and the force of the impact pushed Williams’ car off the road and into a barrier fence.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital, where Williams was pronounced dead.

If convicted of the murder charge, Belkin could go to prison for life.
