Orion Twp. Man Arrested After Chase With Oakland Co. Deputies

The vehicle the man was driving was reportedly involved in an attempted murder and armed robbery incident Aug. 12 in Bloomfield Twp.

A 30-year-old Orion Township man was arrested Thursday after a chase with Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies through Pontiac, according to a Daily Tribune report.

Deputies tried to stopped the 1995 Ford Ranger on Rockwell Avenue, near Motor Street, after they recognized it as a stolen vehicle that Bloomfield Township say was involved in an Aug. 12 attempted murder and armed robbery incident involving a 44-year-old Pontiac woman, the report stated.

The driver fled from deputies, and the chase eventually went onto the Clinton River Trail, the report stated. After about a quarter mile on the trail, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, the report added.

Deputies canvased the area and eventually found the driver trying to barricade himself inside the bathroom of an apartment he forced his way into, the report stated. The man was taken into custody by Bloomfield Township police at the scene, the report added.
