Social Media Site Warns of School Shooting Threat: Police

A 15-year-old student was referred to treatment after allegedly making threats against himself and others on MeetMe.com site.

A 15-year-old male student was taken to a residential treatment facility Friday after he allegedly threatened to kill himself and others at Oxford High School, police said.

The teen, of Pontiac, allegedly made the threats on the online social media site MeetMe.com, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a report released Monday.

The site flagged the conversation and notified the sheriff’s office and asked for a welfare check.

When police arrived at the high school at 745 N. Oxford Road, the student didn’t have a weapon in his possession, according to the report.

Police contacted a parent of the student, who was then taken to Common Ground for treatment.

The investigation is continuing.
