Spate of Jeep Cherokee Larcenies Reported in Bloomfield Township

Also, "No Pokémon or Geocaching" sign stolen from a restaurant, homeowner reported theft of wallet and $1,100 and disabled Beetle vanished.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — In-dash navigation systems were stolen from "multiple" Jeep Cherokees parked in the 1900 block of Klingensmith overnight between 11 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday, the Bloomfield Township Police Department said in a news release.

All of the windows had been broken to gain access to the Jeeps, according to the release.

No Pokémon or Geocaching Sign Missing

On July 20, officers spoke with a representative from the Temple Beth-El at 7400 Telegraph Rd. According to the representative, an unknown person stole a sign from the Temple’s entrance from 14 Mile Rd. The 12” sign read “No Pokémon o Geocaching”. The sign was valued at $45.

Wallet and $1,100 Stolen

On July 16, officers spoke with a resident from the 1900 block of Fox River at the police station. The resident said he parked his 2014 Chrysler in his garage the night before. He returned the following morning to find the garage door open and the driver’s door ajar. He does not remember if he closed the garage door that night. A watch and the resident’s wallet containing $1,100 were taken.

Volkswagen Beetle Stolen

A Bloomfield Township resident reported the theft of his 2001 Volkswagen Beetle after he abandoned the disabled vehicle on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 75 north of Adams Road about 5 p.m. on June 13.mWhen he returned the following day at 6 a.m., the Beetle was gone,. The vehicle wasn't impounded by area law enforcement officials, according to the release.

Car Found Resting on Blocks, Tires Gone

On July 14, officers were sent to a residence in the 900 block of Adams Castle. The resident parked her Ford Flex in the driveway in the evening of July 13th. The next morning, three of the four tires and rims were missing and the Flex was resting on landscape blocks.

Items Stolen from Unlocked Vehicle

On July 20, a resident from the 50 block of S. Berkshire came to the police station. The resident said he parked his Chevy Tahoe in his driveway at 11:00 pm on July 19th. He returned to the vehicle at 7:00 am on July 20th. In that time an unknown person opened the unlocked car and took an I-pod, binoculars, and loose change.
