Suspect Gets Away with $38 and Tip Jar, But Not for Long

The suspect in theft of $38 in a tip jar was being held by Troy police on another matter.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Police in Bloomfield Township said a Pontiac man got away from Bigby Coffee with a tip jar containing $38, but Troy police picked him up on an unrelated manner.

Employees at the coffee shop, located at 1952 Telegraph Road, told police they saw Diandre Lamont Officer, 25, standing near the register where the tip jar was located just before he ran out the door on Dec. 18.

The responding officer saw him run across Telegraph Road, then jump a fence into the vacant lot of Bloomfield Park.

Bloomfield Township police took custody of Officer on Dec. 20 after the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges of larceny in a building.

He was arraigned by video in 48th District Court before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein, who set bond at $50,000. Officer’s next court hearing is 9 a.m. on Jan. 7 before Judge Marc Barron.
