Unhappy with Cell Phone Purchase, Suspects Get Physical: Police

Police: A man unhappy with Craigslist tricked seller into meeting, where victim was assaulted and his vehicle was heavily damaged.

A man who wasn’t happy with a cell phone he bought on Craigslist assaulted the man who sold it to him while his brother caused extensive damage to his car, Bloomfield Township police said in a report.

The alleged assault occurred just after 2 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the Marathon Gas Station, 43020 Woodward Ave. Police said the suspect tricked the victim into meeting him and his brother at the gas station on the pretense that he was going to cell the phone to another person.

After damaging the victim’s vehicle, the suspect’s brother joined in the assault, police said.

When they realized police had been called, the suspects fled, according to the report. Once identified by investigators, they cooperated with police.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department has submitted a request for felony charges to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
