UPDATE: Can You Tell Where This is in Bloomfield? Nope

There were no correct guesses on where this sign is or what it represents, but if you like golf and coffee you might even use it. And Donna May? She's got an important part in that sign.

Several days ago, Nobody could.

The DMT or Donna May Trail, is a thin brick walkway that links Bloomfield Township landmark with the strip of businesses on the adjacent property along southbound Telegraph Road.

It's rumored that Carl Rose Jr., owner of both properties, built the strip to avoid the wear-and-tear the grass berm between them incurred from employees and customers walking back and forth from . But there's actually a bit more to it than that.

Though he's taken over day-to-day operations at the business his father, Carl Sr., started nearly 54 years ago, Rose said he feels fortunate to still have his parents actively involved in the business. That includes frequent visits and even steady hours on certain days of the week.

In the summer of 2008, Carl Sr. and wife, Donna May, were headed across the elevated grass for lunch at when the 80-year-old matriarch slipped, fell backward and struck her head on the bumper of a car in the parking lot. Luckily, she was not seriously injured, but the incident was enough to prod Rose to call a contractor. The Donna May Trail has linked the two properties since late 2008, and Rose said he placed the sign to honor his mom, who's always played a big role in the family business' success.

"It was nice to be able to do that and I've got peace of mind that something like that's not going to happen again," he said.
