Voting in the Aug. 7 Primary: What You Need to Know
Candidate fields for local, state and federal races will be whittled down, and millage requests for public safety, buses and the arts will be determined Tuesday.

- Precinct 3, Wing Lake School, has been relocated to the Booth/Doyle Center, 7273 Wing Lake Rd.
- Precinct 16, Meadow Lake School, has been relocated to West Maple Elementary School, 6275 Inkster Rd.
- All precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

Both city precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

General information
Whether you vote absentee or in person, here's what you need to know if you're voting in the Aug. 7 election:
- Voters must be registered with their respective municipality at least 30 days prior to the election. They must also be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old and a resident of Bloomfield Township or Bloomfield Hills for at least 30 days.
- To find out if you are registered, or find your polling location click here.
- Polls will be open and staffed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
- Voters need to bring their photo identification to the polls. If they do not have one, they will be asked to complete an affidavit.
- All polling places are handicap accessible, and braille and audio versions of the voting instructions are available.
- New voting equipment for individuals with disabilities will also be available.
Voting absentee
If you are unable to vote without assistance, 60 years old or older, expect to be absent on election day or unable to vote on Aug. 7 for any other reason, you can apply for an absentee ballot. Here's what you need to know:
- You can apply for an absentee ballot at the township clerk's office in person between 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. or the city clerk's office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., by mail, fax or request a ballot by phone.
- Absentee ballots will be issued until 4 p.m. the Monday before the election.
- All ballots must be returned to the clerk's office by 8 p.m. on election day. If you're curious, track your absentee ballot with the Oakland County Absentee Ballot Tracker.
- The Bloomfield Hills City Clerk's office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 to help with absentee ballots.
- The Bloomfield Township Clerk's office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 to accept ballots and process absentee ballot applications.
