Whiz Kid: Andover Student Ben White Levin Makes a Mark in Retailing

Co-manager is also a partner in Revive, an expanding style boutique.

Each week, Bloomfield Patch features students doing amazing things in their schools and in their communities. This week's Whiz Kid is a rising entrepreneur.

Ben White Levin

  • Age: 17
  • School:
  • Achievement: This fashion-forward dresser doesn't just wear exclusive items – he helps buy them from manufacturers for Revive, a five-year-old Birmingham sneaker and street style shop where he's co-manager. Aaron Cohen, the 28-year-old owner, made the Bloomfield Hills teen a partner in the business -- though a parent must cosign legal documents until he turns 18. Both men appear in a new video (below photos) by Vintage Frames Co. of Montreal, promoting ultra-limited edition sunglasses carried at the West Maple store.
  • Key to Awesomeness: Maturity, leading-edge tastes and entrepreneurial drive propel the Andover senior way past Junior Achievement-level early success. With two prominent parents, it's no surprise Levin is propelled by make-it-happen ambition. His dad, Charles Levin, was a Michigan Supreme Court Justice from 1973-96. His mom, Helene White, has been a U.S. Court of Appeals judge since 2008. The young retail manager's second cousins include U.S. Sen. Carl Levin and U.S. Rep. Sander Levin.
Revive's partners are remodeling a site opposite the existing store on West Maple Road, which will be renamed Revive Street when the 1,800-square-foot new location opens this fall with luxury fashions from Tokyo and Paris.
