BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A Pontiac woman accused of stealing packaged meat from a Bloomfield Township grocery store earlier this month and then pepper spraying store employees who chased her down is due in court Wednesday to answer charges of retail fraud and assault and battery.
Lakeeta Emery, 30, is accused of stealing packaged meat from Hollywood Market, 1525 Opdyke Road, on Aug. 7, according to a news release from the Bloomfield Township Police Department.
According to police, the store manager confronted Emergy, who ran to the back of the store and fled through an emergency exit. Several employees chased her out of the store and down South Boulevard, and when one of them caught up with her, she sprayed the individual with the pepper spray before the other employees took her to the ground and held her in place until police arrived.
