Join the Bennett's Beavers Scotch Doubles Golf Outing on Saturday, August 16, to help BB bring wooden toys to children in over 20 hospitals in the United States. The volunteers at Bennett's Beavers provide the hospitals with 50,000 wooden toys annually in over 75 designs for the kids to paint, using wood donated by Doors & Drawers of Dexter and Comins Lumber Sales in Gaylord. Recently, using unusual wood donated by Doors & Drawers, the carpenters of Bennett's Beavers created the cabinet in the photo, which is at the Hamburg Township Offices stocked with info about this local charitable operation started by Jim Bennett, pictured with Township Clerk Jim Nielson, right. What Jim Bennett began casually with one hospital is now a year-round operation staffed by more than 20 volunteers working out of the old fire station in Hamburg. All donations and fundraising efforts go 100 percent directly into their mission. All wooden toys are provided free to participating hospitals, who only pay for shipping. To golf, go to http://www.bennettsbeavers.com/?page_id=26. You may also come for dinner alone for only $10. Please note the dinner is at the Conservation Club but golf is at Rush Lake Hills Golf Course with a 10 a.m. tee off.
