The bond passed in late 2012 has given Brighton High School a new sports stadium, taking a torn up grass field to a state of the art turf field. It has also given the students many new technological advances, going from old computers that would take far too long to load a simple webpage to brand new ones that work so much faster and more efficiently.
One of the many items purchased to help the school is a brand new digital press, placed in teacher Sean Carney’s room. Carney teaches the graphics classes at Brighton High where many students from other districts attend in a “block class” due to the available technology.

The digital press is a Konica C7000B, which allows Carney to increase the quality of the printed works, producing photo-quality pictures. It also is capable of printing off 12x18 papers at 70 pages per minute, speeding up the processes used in the graphics class. Another feature is that the press allows the user to controlling the Pantone, a color reproduction system.
“This system has really moved us up to current industrial standards. There aren’t many programs in the state that have the capabilities we do now,” Carney said.

One of the system’s first big printing jobs was of Taurus Canis, Brighton High’s literary magazine.
