It was bitterly cold on the field, but it was probably a warm ride home on the bus as Brighton left Hartland with a 12-5 win Wednesday night.
Senior Brady Garrett scored four goals to lead the Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0 KLAA), who were in control for most of the contest. On his third goal of the night, with 1:18 left in the first quarter, Garrett had his back to Hartland goalie Buck Short as they jostled for position. The pair were alone for a few seconds, just long enough for Garrett to take a shot over his shoulder and past Garrett into the net.
The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest, but they were challenged in the third quarter when Hartland, once down 5-1, climbed to within two goals, 6-4. However, five straight goals by Brighton put the game away.
