Brighton High School Art Fair shines

Every year creative students from all over Brighton fill the aux gym with art. From ceramics to painting and sketches, the most talented art works are displayed for everyone to see. The art teachers select their favorite works to be displayed and honored.
“Finding out I was selected to be in the art show was an honor. I wasn’t expecting much but when they told me I got an entire wall to myself I wasn't only shocked but in much gratitude,” sophomore Sarah Becker said.
Not only is the artwork from the students at BHS but elementary and middle schools all over brighton. “ I remember in elementary school I was in the art show every year and it made me so proud, I think thats what inspired me to continue on with my art filled journey,” senior  Brenna Cockerill said.
The art fair every year brightens up the halls and spirits of the BHS student. Painting  smile on many of their faces.
Alot of schools are not able to put on such a large event bringing everyone together and changing the gym into an art gallery. All of this is done for free, with no admission to go in.
“We are lucky to have such an wonderful at department and hardworking students. It is a great experience and other schools should step up and get on board to have as many exquisite students as we do ,”  teacher Suzan Mankowski said.
The art that is displayed in the show has a wide variety of skills. The art show is a wonderful way to show  of many students art work. from a range of
"It is nice progressing form kindergartens to 12th grade. It is very nice for all of the students in the brighton area to show what they have been working on," potter and metal arts teacher Maureen Ray said.
The art show takes a lot of work and makes teacher and students busy. Setting up and taking down takes time but everyone loves the art.
"This is possible the last art show. This is because they are thinking of only having two art teachers at the high school. This should not influence the decision of the art show however. It is unfair for the students who excel in art rather than school. this is a good place for them to shine" Ray said.
The high school is filled with talented students dedicating their time into their work. Working everyday on their unique pieces.
“I try to stay focused in class and concentrate on my own work, but it such a fun class to participate in and easy to get distracted. I applaud the kids who made it in the art show, they always are the ones i aspire to be like, and their art is marvelous,” sophomore Caroline Johnson  said.
The art work that turns heads and makes people gasp is what will be found in the 2014 art fair. The most talented students will be displaying their creations for everyone to see during Thursday through Saturday at the Brighton High School aux gym.
