Brighton High School Class of 1968 will soon return to Brighton.

1968 Class Celebrating Their 50th Class Reunion.

The Brighton High School class of 1968 will soon return to the Brighton area to celebrate their 50th Class Reunion. They all agree 50 years have gone by faster than they ever could have imagined. This remarkable class started in the Fall of 1967 after a long, hot summer of race riots in Detroit, and throughout the United States. The unpopular Vietnam War was still heating up also. However, these ’68 Seniors were an active and optimistic group looking to make their own mark on the world. Even the bad news of the Martin Luther King Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy’s assassinations in 1968, could not dampen their spirits. They had a voice and they used it early, and often. The 1968 Class was just the second Class to graduate from the, ”New”, Brighton High School, after starting their 4 years of High School, “high upon a hill in Brighton”, at the, “Old”, High School. The 1968 Class was also the first class to start the legacy of the Senior All-Night Parties. Several automotive tragedies lead up to the decision to start this tradition. Thanks to parents and local Brighton business sponsors, these gala parties were a huge success. There were 139 Seniors that graduated in 1968, and 57 of them have confirmed that they will come back for the Golden Diploma Ceremony on Saturday, June 9th. They will also have a Class Mixer Party Friday, June 8th. This will be the largest Alumni Class ever to receive their Brighton Golden Diplomas. These active, “60 Something’s”, also had the largest returning Alumni Class ever to participate in the Brighton Homecoming Parade last Fall. The Class of 1968 wishes to thank the Brighton Alumni Association for helping to honor past Classes in this unique way. Thank you also for your continuing project to restore all the class photos, and the establishment of a photo gallery in the High School.
