Coach's Corner: Brighton Girls Varsity Basketball Advances to Ninth Straight Win
The Bulldogs defeated the Hartland Eagles 51-48 in overtime on Friday.

The Brighton Girls Varsity Basketball Team took over sole possession of first place in the KLAA West Division with a hard-fought 51-48 overtime win against Hartland.
The two teams traded the lead throughout the game. The Bulldogs built a six point lead in the 4th quarter before the Eagles rallied to tie the score at the end of regulation.

Hartland had the ball at the end of the 4th quarter with a chance to win the game but Brighton tightened their defense to force the overtime. The Bulldogs built a quick 4-point lead early in the overtime period and had just enough to hang for the victory.
Several players made critical free throws to win the game.
Courtney Murphy had 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the field and 3 for 3 from the free throw line. She hit some big baskets throughout the game.

Natalie Schroeder played her best game of the year with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Natalie Peterson added 4 points and 7 rebounds while Laura Taylor chipped in with 4 points and 5 rebounds.
Once again, Brighton received valuable contributions from several of their bench players.
The win improves the Bulldogs' record to 9-1 (5-0 in KLAA league play). It was Brighton's ninth win in a row.
Junior Varsity also defeated the Eagles 33-27, while the Freshmen team lost 19-25.
The Bulldogs play a non-league game on Tuesday at Plymouth Salem before getting back to conference play at home against Pinckney next Friday.
