Coach's Corner: Lady Bulldogs Varsity Basketball, Bowling Defeat Highlander Rivals
Both Brighton High School Girls Varsity Basketball and Bowling teams defeated Howell this week.

The Brighton Girls Varsity Basketball team survived an upset bid from cross-town rival Howell to win 46-34 .
For the second game in a row, the Bulldogs did not play their best basketball in the first half and trailed at halftime 20-16.

Courtney Murphy hit some big shots early in the second half as the Bulldogs regained the lead and slowly pulled away from the Highlanders. The Bulldogs outscored Howell 30 to 14 points in the second half.
The Bulldogs were lead by Laura Taylor's 10 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Courtney Murphy contributed 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Karley Hatter added 8 points and Natalie Peterson had 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals.
Karly Bender, Shelby Quinnette (4 steals) and Natalie Schroeder (4 points and 5 rebounds) all played well off the bench to provide a spark for the Bulldogs.

The win improves the Bulldogs' record to 7-1 (3 - 0 in KLAA league play).
Both Girls Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams lost their game against Howell, 37-40 and 16-21 respectively.
The Bulldogs' next game is Tuesday at Milford High School. Freshmen play at 4 p.m., Junior Varsity at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity plays at 7:00 p.m.

The Brighton Girls Varsity Bowling team defeated Howell, the KLAA 2011 Conference Champions who were undefeated this season.
The Highlanders were losing 10-0 after a set of bakers. These girls work hard.
The Bulldogs' next match is today against Walled Lake Central at Wonderland Lanes at 1:30 p.m.
