The older man reportedly passed the younger man. Both were stopped at a traffic signal at Chilson and Grand River in Genoa Township when the younger man got out of his 2014 Ford Escape and approached the 2012 Dodge pickup driven by the older man.

Exactly what took place between the two men isn’t clear, but witnesses said “there appeared to be a little bit of a road rage incident,” said Livingston County Undersheriff Michael Murphy, who said the older man shot and killed the 43-year-old man.

Police did not say how many shots were fired, or whether the suspect had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

The 43-year-old man’s wife was a passenger in his vehicle, but was uninjured.
