• Brighton senior Anna Giles named semifinalist for National Merit (livingstondaily.com) — A Brighton High School senior, Anna Giles, has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, placing her among the top PSAT scorers nationwide. Brighton families can take pride that she's part of a select group of about 16,000 students, many of whom will advance to finalist status and compete for thousands of college scholarships.
   

• Lake Trust CU Foundation Awards Five Scholarships (thecudaily.com) — Based in Brighton, the Lake Trust Foundation has awarded five scholarships to Michigan students pursuing in-demand careers, including two recipients from Brighton. Local residents Rosa Brondyke and Lucille Bosn will receive substantial support for electrical training and a Cleary University degree, helping them build careers that can feed back into Brighton's workforce and community life.
   

• Volleyball Recap: Clarkston Now 8-2 over Last 10 Games (maxpreps.com) — Clarkston's volleyball team is on a hot 8-2 run, including a recent road match at Brighton that's part of a strong early-season schedule against area powers. The Wolves just swept Northville 3-0 behind standout performances from Josie Seets and Marlie Smith, while Northville bounced back with a win over Hartland.
