Bulldog seniors defeated the juniors 12-8 Monday night.

It was a classic case of role reversal at the Dog Pound Monday night as the girls took the field while a handful of manly guys strapped on skirts to cheer on the sidelines.

The seniors defeated the juniors 12-8 in the first ever Powderpuff football game held at the high school. The senior girls out-gained the juniors, 228 to 189 total offensive yards.

Leading the seniors was Heather Bader who scored the team's first touchdown. After two attempts from inside the juniors' 5-yard line, Courtney Murphy ran the ball into the end zone for the short touchdown.

"It was frustrating the first couple of times because they (girls on the team) weren't getting it," Murphy said. "It felt great. It's not supposed to be very competitive, but it is very competitive to us because we wanted to win and beat the juniors.

Murphy, a Varsity Basketball player, decided to participate in Powderpuff because she loves sports and being outdoors.

"And all my friends were doing it," she said.

The juniors avoided a shut out thanks to a touchdown scored by Hannan McKinnon with less than three minutes remaining in the final quarter.
