"Warm Coats, Warm Hearts" keeps locals warm
BHS helped contribute to the charity "Warm Coats, Warm Hearts', started by Burlington Coat Factory.

Friday, February 12 the men’s basketball game against longtime rivals Howell, not only had a great turnout of people but also donated coats. Attendees could enter the game for free if they brought along an old coat that they are willing to donate to our “Warm Hearts, Warm Coats” campaign. The coats will be donated locally to Youth Education Project, which benefits homeless youth, Headstart Livingston and some local churches. This fundraiser continues on from the previous week with the proceeds from the second annual dodgeball tournament on February 3, also going to the same fundraiser.
People were able to see their contribution exactly and its impact when they threw the coat over the rails at the top of the fieldhouse down onto many other coats on the gym floor. Attendees got to see the growth of the pile with each donation. During halftime Athletic Director, John Thompson, brought half of the donations in a bin out to the middle of the court for everyone to see and applaud the community’s generous contributions. The fundraiser was very well received by all attendees and many shared coats with others with the incentive for free entry. This is the first time a fundraiser of this kind has been done during winterfest week and it will not be the last. This is just one of many other traditions and new additions to this year’s Winterfest.
