• Drive with caution as M-DOT works begins on major roadways (county-journal.com) — Drivers in and around Charlotte should expect lane closures and detours as MDOT works on M-50 and M-79, including a full closure of Main Street between Broad and South through mid-October. The projects aim to improve driving surfaces and sidewalks, but residents are urged to slow down in work zones, especially since several Michigan road workers have died this construction season. 
• Michigan State Police ask for help finding Jeep involved in deadly I-69 hit-and-run (wilx.com) — A fatal hit-and-run on I-69 near M-100 now involves a suspect from Charlotte, but Michigan State Police still haven't found the dark gray 2018 Jeep Compass they believe was involved. Troopers say it should have a broken passenger-side mirror and possibly damaged right headlight, and they're urging anyone who spots it or has information to call the MSP Lansing Post.
• OBITUARY: Marsha Lucena Boehmke (wtvbam.com) — Family and friends in Charlotte are among those mourning the passing of 82-year-old Marsha Lucena Boehmke, who died September 24 in Coldwater. Remembered for her decades at Hillsdale College and her love of gardening, reading, and card games, she leaves behind children, grandchildren, and extended family across southern Michigan.
