Roberts Lake Dam removal and culvert installation set for August (michigan.gov) — Roberts Lake Road in Cheboygan County will fully close for about four weeks starting in August while crews remove the aging Roberts Lake Dam and install a modern culvert. The project will restore more natural water levels on Roberts Lake, protect the road and downstream habitat, and is fully grant-funded, shifting long-term maintenance to the Cheboygan County Road Commission.

Inland Lakes' Tanner Howard earns all-state track and field honors (cheboygannews.com) — Cheboygan-area track fans can see how local athletes, especially Inland Lakes sprinter Tanner Howard, performed at the Division 4 state finals in Hudsonville. 3. Diver dies in Lake Huron (dailypress.net) — Cheboygan County authorities are investigating a fatal diving emergency that occurred May 29 near the Cedarville shipwreck site in northern Lake Huron. A 62-year-old Ohio man died despite immediate lifesaving efforts, and the sheriff’s office says equipment and charter operations are not believed to be factors.
4. Sex Discrimination: Company to Pay $5.5M to Settle EEOC Lawsuit (hrmorning.com) — Cheboygan residents should know that Central Transport’s Cheboygan terminal was among locations where federal officials received reports of alleged sex-based hiring discrimination against women truck drivers. The Michigan-based company will pay $5.5 million and must overhaul its hiring, training, and recordkeeping practices nationwide under a consent decree with the EEOC.
