1. 660 white students enrolled at Chelsea High School in 2024-25 (annarbortimes.com) — Chelsea High School enrolled 660 white students out of 750 total in 2024–25, with white students making up 88% of the student body, the largest ethnic group. The story tracks a decade of shifting demographics at CHS and places local enrollment trends in the context of statewide declines in Michigan's student population, especially among white students. 
2. Chelsea Schools Bringing the Kitchen Back to Pierce Lake (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea School District has approved spending about $109,000 from its 2019 bond to fully re-equip the kitchen at Pierce Lake Early Childhood Center, ending reliance on food cooked at Chelsea High School and trucked over. The new equipment will let staff prepare hot meals on-site for preschool, GSRP, aftercare, and upcoming Young 5s students, while also supporting an expanded catering operation to boost district revenue.
3. Chelsea High School Again Ranked as a Premier Public High School (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea High School is heading into the new year ranked 29th in Michigan and 5th in Washtenaw County by U.S. News & World Report, with strong test scores, graduation rates, and AP offerings. District leaders credit the entire Chelsea community and earlier grades for building the foundation that helps CHS students thrive in a close-knit yet high-achieving environment.
4. Chelsea Officials Seek to Address Downtown Parking Concerns (thesuntimesnews.com) — Downtown Chelsea leaders and business owners are wrestling with growing parking and traffic headaches as new housing is expected to add about 600 homes in the next five years. City Manager Elle Cole favors a traffic study, better signage, and possible seasonal changes to parking limits over an immediate, costly parking garage, and is asking residents and merchants to keep sharing ideas with city hall.
5. Shocking Human Skull Discovery at Michigan Goodwill (wgrd.com) — A donation at the Chelsea Goodwill earlier this year shockingly included a human skull, which Chelsea police turned over to the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner. Authorities say it belonged to an adult Black woman and, with help from the FBI, are still trying to learn more and identify the person who dropped it off, asking anyone with tips to contact Chelsea police.
