CPD Weekly Report, Aug. 10-17, 2026 (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea Police report a recent phone fraud attempt where a resident was urged to withdraw money over supposed Amazon account issues, though no loss occurred. In a separate stop, officers arrested a 45-year-old Chelsea man wanted by another agency and found suspected narcotics and paraphernalia, with charges pending lab results and prosecutor review.
   

2. Skull donated to Chelsea Goodwill confirmed human, turned over to FBI (audacy.com) — Chelsea police have confirmed that a skull left among donations at the local Goodwill is human and have turned it over to the FBI for advanced testing. Investigators believe it belonged to a Black woman and are still trying to identify the white woman who dropped it off. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Chelsea Police Department.
   

3. Movie Legend Jeff Daniels Opens Up About Why He Turned His Back on Hollywood To Embrace a Humble Life in Small-Town Michigan (beaumontenterprise.com) — Jeff Daniels explains why he left Hollywood behind to base his life and family in his hometown of Chelsea commuting to film and stage work as needed. He's deepened his local roots by founding the Purple Rose Theatre and now preparing JD's Stage Bistro, a new restaurant and music venue that will showcase Michigan and Midwest talent.
   

4. Chelsea Girl Scout Troop Plans Next Time Capsule (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea Girl Scout Troop 40959 is leading a new community time capsule project to capture what life in Chelsea is like in 2026, with burial planned for spring 2027. Working with Chelsea District Library and other local troops, they hope to include business snapshots, fair memorabilia, and Holmes Park items that future residents will open in 2076.
