Police Looking For Woman Who Donated Human Skull To MI Thrift Store

The skull has been sent to the University of Michigan's Anthropology Department for further analysis, according to police.

CHELSEA, MI — Police are looking for a woman who donated a human skull at a thrift store in southeast Michigan last week.

Police said staff at the Goodwill store located in the 1100 block of South Main Street in Chelsea found the human skull wrapped in a shirt on Jan. 26.

There was not any "visible damage" or "uncharacteristic holes" in the skull, according to police.

Officials with the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the skull is human and that it has been sent to the University of Michigan’s Anthropology Department for further analysis, a process that could take up to 90 days, according to police.

Police said the woman is in her late 40s to early 50s with shoulder-length brown hair. They said she was last seen wearing black pants, a black coat and sunglasses.

They are also interested in a second person, a woman also in her late 40s to early 50s with brown, should-length hair. Police said they left together in a dark gray four-door SUV.

"One of the items appears to have been accidentally included in the donations," police said in a statement. "Chelsea PD would like to speak with her to confirm her decision."
