📰 News we're reading

• Mt. Pleasant, Clare, and Midland to begin their annual summer concerts (themorningsun.com) — Clare residents can look forward to the 21st annual Summer Concert Series at Shamrock Park, with free Thursday evening shows from June 4 through August 13. Performances run 6–8 p.m. at the small pavilion and feature a wide mix of genres, while similar free concert series are also happening in Mt. Pleasant and Midland.

• Michigan lawmaker proposes price-rounding plan for loss of penny (detroitnews.com) — A proposed Michigan bill would require all cash purchases to be rounded down to the nearest nickel now that pennies are no longer made, but Rep. Tom Kunse of Clare prefers letting businesses round prices both up and down. The debate could affect how Clare shoppers see totals change at the register in a future penny-free economy.

• Search underway in Michigan for possible debris from bright Midwest meteor (wkar.org) — Possible meteor debris may have fallen in Clare County after a striking green fireball lit up Michigan’s sky Monday night, with reports centered around 10:42 p.m. near Lansing. Experts say the meteor likely burned up completely, but residents are encouraged to report any suspicious rocks or fragments to the American Meteor Society or Michigan Geological Survey.
