Clawson High School Awarded Meemic Foundation Grant to Fund Science Program

Congratulations are in order for Clawson High School!

The school recently received a $900 grant from the Meemic Foundation, which will support the school's science program. With the funding, new lab materials will be purchased so that students have the ability to build their own voltaic cells and measure voltage using electrodes, solutions and a voltmeter.

The Meemic Foundation, a non-profit organization created by Michigan-based Meemic Insurance Company, has impacted over 1.5 students since its start in 1992 by awarding financial assistance to various schools and teachers.

Schools like Clawson submit grant applications which are then chosen to receive funding, based on certain criteria. The Foundation looks to fund programs that will take students' classroom experiences and learning initiatives to new heights.

"I am glad the high school took the initiative to apply for grants to increase a positive educational experience for our students," said Mayor Penny Luebs. "It is the attention to details that makes a difference in our daily lives, and what an enrichment opportunity that our community will benefit from."
