Free Legal Aid Clinic and Group Sessions

The Oakland County BarΒ Association (OCBA) invites the public to a free legal clinic on Thursday, MarchΒ 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. Legal experts willΒ be available for one-on-one discussions while also holding group sessionsΒ covering issues such as landlord/tenant disputes, custody, parenting time, childΒ support, driver’s license restoration and expungement and juvenile issues. OCBAΒ is a local, legal organization dedicated to aiding in the professional needs ofΒ its members and to ensuring the delivery of quality legal service to theΒ public.

This free legal clinic isΒ designed to help educate the community on different areas of the law and toΒ assist attendees in finding answers to their specific legal questions throughΒ the first-hand insight from noted Oakland County attorneys.

There will be four sessions offeredΒ with two running simultaneously:

Β·Β The Impact of a Juvenile Criminal RecordΒ withΒ Christine Piatkowski of Christine Piatkowski P.L.C.

A free β€˜Ask-a-Lawyer’ sessionΒ will also be held for the duration of the program, allowing attendees to speakΒ privately with a volunteer attorney specifically about their questions andΒ concerns. The attorneys will be able to discuss topics including juvenile,Β family, bankruptcy, probate, criminal, general civil and landlord/tenantΒ matters.

β€œOne of our main missions atΒ the OCBA is to promote the delivery of quality legal services to the public,” said James Derian, OCBA President, β€œand community outreach programs such asΒ this helps us deliver on that mission. These are areas of law that we know areΒ in big demand for residents of Oakland County and our professionals are happyΒ to offer their expertise.”

Also available to assistΒ attendees will be a representative from Common Ground, a lifeline forΒ individuals and families in crisis, victims of crime, persons with mentalΒ illness, people trying to cope with critical situations, and runaway andΒ homeless youths.
