Clinton Township, Mich. – The Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM), a non-profit organization providing seniors the opportunity to live independently, recently completed an innovative project, The Green Retrofit Program, to reduce energy consumption at The Village of Peace Manor located in Clinton Township, Michigan.

To make the property more energy efficient, PVM made several improvements to The Village of Peace Manor under the Recovery Act/Green Retrofit program for Multifamily Housing (GRP). After completing a pre-rehab and post-rehab analysis of energy consumption, data revealed the property used about 27% less water, 37.33% less electricity and 51.61% less gas due to these GRP improvements.

“All of these result are a very good indication that our program was successful,” said Vice President of Public Affairs, Lynn Alexander. “We took this project very seriously, and it shows in the results. Making these renovations is just smart – as energy costs continue to increase, improvements like these will keep the costs down for our residents which is important to our organization.”
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provided funding for the green initiative project. Improvements included replacing all interior lighting with energy star rated lighting, installing water savers and upgrading to energy efficient heating pump systems.
